What’s a Groupmuse?
Groupmuses are something in between classical music concerts and house parties, hosted at someone’s home. They are a chance to spend quality time with old and new friends and to lose yourself in a profound artistic experience.
What’s on the program?
The group will be playing Beethoven, Mason Bates, and Gershwin (see below!). This is some of the music they'll be tour with in France this June!
What do I bring?
A pillow, your loved ones, and the tantalizing BYOB drink of your choice! Please come with at least $10 to pay the musicians at the event.
Doors at 8pm, music at 8:30pm. There will be about 45-50 minutes of actual music; the whole program will be about 90 minutes with talking and intermission.
Please RSVP so we can calculate the correct carpet radius
------------------------------------------------------------
James Jaffe, cello
Ian Scarfe, piano
Rachel Patrick, violin
Matthew Boyles, clarinet
We’ll start with a movement each from these sublime Beethoven masterpieces:
The “Ghost” Piano Trio, op. 70, no. 1
The Clarinet Trio, op. 11
The Cello Sonata in A Major, op. 69
Intermission
Then it’s time for “Red River” by Mason Bates, which brilliantly tells the tale of the Colorado River using four live musicians plus electronics.
And we’ll finish with Gershwin’s “An American in Paris” arranged for the Vinifera Trio (Ian + Rachel + Matt)!
After that, we hope you stay to relax, be merry, and meet new friends!
